These vintage Koala soft toys are made from kangaroo fur.
Toys were made from real kangaroo fur in the past primarily because they served as unique, locally sourced souvenirs. Before the rise of synthetic, petro-chemical plush materials, manufacturers used natural hides to create authentic, native Australian animals like koalas and kangaroos
The word "koala" comes from an old Aboriginal word meaning "no drink" or "no water". They get almost all their moisture from eating fresh eucalyptus leaves.
These vintage kangaroo fur Koala toys have resin eyes and plastic noses. The 20cm toy Koala has leather claws, while the 17cm toy Koala's have plastic claws.
Where a toy is styles with a beautiful hand knitted soft woollen scarf with white tassels, the scarf is sold separately.
Materials: natural vintage kangaroo fur, resin eyes, plastic nose, plastic or leather claws, stuffed with paper or fabric.
Please note:
-the dolls scarf is sold separately.
-the colour of the fur may vary between toys.
