Modern Photography of Vintage Toys in the snow.
Look closely at these photographs. The snowboarder is miniature antique toy from the 1930's and 40's photographed high in the mountains at premier snow resorts. These tiny figures draw you in, evoke a nostalgic feeling for the dawn of alpine snow sports but are presented in a vibrant, modern context. The mix of old and new creates a great visual addition to any home or mountain space. These images showcase the beauty of mountain landscapes with a wink of whimsy designed to draw the viewer in and surprise and delight.
As snowboarding wasn't invented until the 1940's, the snowboarder has been created by adapting a vintage 1930-40's toy in a standing position and a vintage skateboard. All images are taken in real snow in the mountains and not photoshopped to appear on location.
Not forgetting our skiing friends, Hooey Mountain has vintage skiing toys that compliment the snowboarder prints.
About Hooey Mountain
Hooey has been a creator all her life in a multitude of mediums including oil, fiber, and photography. She loves working at the intersection of time and nature and forcing the viewer to question what is real. She creates movement where none exists in both figurative and non-figurative work. Over a decade ago, Hooey bought her husband the first two antique toy skiers in what has now become an extensive collection of over 150 antique toy skiers from the dawn of skiing (1930's-40's) that. she uses as the basis for the Skier Series.
Hooey's work has been exhibited nationally, and her images are part of private collections throughout the United states and abroad. I Dream of Snow is thrilled to be the first retailer to stock her photographs outside of the USA.
Available in two sizes, unframed.
