Reproduction of the Visit the Victorian Alps Historical iconic travel poster.
The 1930s have been dubbed the Golden Age of poster design in Australia. This was partly due to the efforts of the Victorian Railways and the Australian National Travel Association to promote tourism and outdoor recreation by commissioning posters from the best commercial artists of the day.
In the 1990s the Public Transport Corporation released a series of 8 reproduction vintage Victorian Railways travel posters from the 1920s & 30s.
The modern reproductions were done by Melbourne illustrator Fay Plamka in 1992, a founding member of Illustrators Australia.Fay was commissioned by the National Victorian Railways to reproduce these beautiful posters
They were sold as prints, lithographs and signed limited edition prints throughout Australia and the World.
Organisations like the National Parks and the Victorian Railways commissioned these posters to encourage visitation to properties they ran. These posters have become iconic images of Australia a leisure over time.
